“Of the 13 hours of the trip, 10 were on the bus. While technically a day trip from Vienna, I would recommend doing the trip to Salzburg on your own if you're adventurous. Salzburg is pretty compact, with most of the sights in the old partod the town. During this time of year, the town is decked out for the holiday and the Christmas market is fantastic! There were two parts of the tour: the part on the bus and the part with a local guide. We rode in a mini bus, but it was very luxurious. We got to see all the highlights of the scenes from the movie, had lots of time for picture taking, as well as grabbing snacks. “Peter, driver and guide, was very knowledgeable about the lakes and small villages we stopped at along the way. Ar Saltzburg he handed us to a local guide for a walking tour. This tour was advertised as as suitable for wheelchair users but the guide marched on leaving other members of my group to get me up and down steps. “First off, the experience at Salzburg and the Alpine Lakes was really wonderful - especially the lakes. It’s gorgeous and well worth the trip. The only complaint is that the trip was 4-5 hours each way which we knew going in, but it was pretty intolerable because they had a speaker with the guide talking on an extremely loud setting the entire way there. Even worse, on the way back, they blasted the Sound of Music movie so we were unable to relax after a long day. Overall a nice trip but wouldn’t recommend if you’re sensitive to sound.”

“We highly suggest this tour since it proved to be good value for money. We were a very small group of 7 people and traveled in a comfortable mini-van. Our driver and leader Peter was very nice and informative. He went out of the way by taking pictures of everyone at every stop. He also managed to take us to some locations which were not mentioned in the tour, yet he managed to stick to the tour time frame.
